INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River County Historical Society will host a Florida Heritage Marker Dedication on May 17, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Vero Beach City Hall, 1053 10th Place, Vero Beach.
This Marker will commemorate the architectural style of the current building which houses the governmental offices of the City of Vero Beach. In the early 1960’s, the architects and builders designed and built a very modern building that is today called “Mid-Century Modern.”
The history of the very first City Hall and the location of this second City Hall building are both worthy of noting on this marker.
Anna Brady, Chairman of the Vero Beach Historical Commission, will describe “What is Mid-Century Modern.” She will also explain an exciting and nationwide initiative from the National Trust for Historical Preservation called #ThisPlaceMatters.
Come join with the Society on May 17, 2016 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. for this Florida Heritage Marker unveiling.
