Gerald M. Florence, 80, of Vero Beach, passed away at home on April 24, 2016.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Belle; daughters Carol Florence of Port St. Lucie, Brenda Nadal of Ocala, Fla., and Karen MacNamee of Snellville, Ga.; sons Alfred (Gail Dolson) Nadal of Boynton Beach, and David Florence of Fort Lauderdale; grandchildren Caitlin, Nicole and Stevie; sister Carolyn Hopkins of Greenville, N.C.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Florence was born on Oct. 10, 1935 in Winston-Salem, N.C., and was brought up in Atlanta, Ga.
A member of the Atlanta Boys Choir, his love for music and the trumpet secured him a scholarship to Stetson University in Deland, Fla. After graduation, he had a short career in radio then began his more than 40 year career in insurance related fields. After many rewarding years at JM Family Enterprises, a Jim Moran Outstanding Company, Florence retired as a Vice President in 2002.
Funeral Services will be held privately held for family and close friends.
