Margaret Cable Bruce, 90, of Vero Beach, passed away on April 21, 2016, at Hospice House in Vero Beach.
She is survived by her son William C. Bruce of North Sutton, N.H.; daughter Gayle H. Bruce of Sebastian; five grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents William and Agnes Cable, and her husband of more than 50 years, Gaylord “Bud” Bruce.
Bruce was born in New Haven, Conn., on Aug. 29, 1925, an only child to William and Agnes Cable. She graduated from Hamden High School in 1943 and the University of Connecticut in 1947. She was a teacher at Jared Elliot School in Clinton, Conn., for many years before retiring and moving to Vero Beach in 1987 with her husband Bud.
A memorial service will be held at Community Church a date which will be determined in Vero Beach. A private gathering of the family will be held in July in New York State.
