Humane Society to offer free horse care workshop April 23

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County (HSVBIRC) and Fellsmere Feed, Tack & Farm Supply will be offering a free horse care workshop on Saturday, April 23 from 12 to 3 p.m.

Topics will include horse nutrition, the truth about low starch diets and disaster preparedness for horses. The workshop will be held in the Humane Society’s Adoption and Education building, located at 6230 77th Ave, Vero Beach.

The workshop’s featured speakers are Dr. Dan Burke, Director of Tribute Equine Nutrition and Ilka Daniel, Director of Animal Protective Services for the Humane Society. The workshop will include a variety of door prizes and refreshments.

This event is being held just prior to “Help a Horse Day” which takes place on April 26, a national celebration to raise awareness of the plight of horses. Guests are asked to RSVP by calling (772) 571-6408.

The Humane Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping and protecting the animals of Indian River County.
