Five County scouts achieve Eagle Scout Rank together

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — On April 3, 2016 five Indian River County Residents – Morgan Beckham, Ryan Boehning, Eric Gilreath, Daniel Rojas and Nicholas Thull – were celebrated in the Eagle Court of Honor for making Eagle Scout Rank. The event was not only significant because of the work it took to achieve scouting’s highest rank, but also because the scouts have been together in Troop 503 since 1st grade.

In order to earn Eagle Scout rank, scouts have to earn 21 merit badges, participate as a leader in the troop, and complete a community service project that typically takes more than 100 hours of service between the scout and the people he organizes.

Each one of the boys successfully organized and completed a local service project.

Beckham beautified and improved a section at Beachland Elementary School, Boehning blazed a new hiking trail in Round Island Conservation Area, Gilreath built a booth for the St. Helen Harvest Festival, Rojas replaced a parking lot fence at Pine Camp at St. Sebastian River Buffer Preserve and Thull painted a section at Vero Beach Leisure Square.

In addition to their achievement in scouting, all five boys maintain top academic records in high school, play varsity sports, volunteer for other community charities and are making plans for attending University in the fall.
