Peter Anthony Marks, 80, of Vero Beach, passed away on April 2, 2016.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Deanna Johnson Marks; daughter Laurie Gorman; brother Thomas Marks; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Sue.
Marks was born on Dec. 23, 1935 in Wausau, Wis. to the late Virginia and Wilford Marks.
He proudly served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He graduated from the School of Conservation in Wausau and went on to attend the Scofield Police Academy. He served in both the Osceola and Indian River Sheriff Office Reserves for more than 25 years and was a full time bailiff for the Indian River Sheriff’s Office.
A Deputy Sheriff for 10 years with Scofield Sheriff’s Office, he relocated to Florida in 1969. While he continued to serve with the local Sheriff’s Departments, Marks also worked for Naples Fruit and Vegetable as a ranch hand. He was also a blasting engineer for Don Mon Blasters. He was also a ranch manager for Billy Rogers Corp in Devil Garden and Kenansville, Fla. Most recently, he became the property manager Mack & Turf Inc, a division of Seminole Tribe of Florida in Yee Haw Junction, Fla.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m., Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach, followed by a Memorial Service at 4 p.m.
