VERO BEACH — Main Street Vero Beach’s 13th Annual Hibiscus Festival kicks off April 7 and will continue April 9-10.
Festivities will begin with the Miss Hibiscus Pageant at the Heritage Center at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 7.
Saturday morning at 7 a.m. is the Hibiscus Ride in partnership with Vero Cycling. The Hibiscus Ride is distinguished by offering both an English Century (100 mile), and Metric Century (100 kilometers or 62 miles).
The designated route for The Hibiscus Ride Metric Century is 67 miles making it a Metric Century Plus. A 31-mile route and a 10-mile route will also be presented for riders interested in shorter rides.
The Fine Art and Fine Craft show featuring 44 artists opens at 10 a.m. on April 9, along with all the other parts of the Hibiscus Festival including entertainment.
Main Street Vero Beach is hopeful area nurseries will hold a hibiscus plant sale in the new Garden Way.
The Pilot Club will do a pancake breakfast at the Community Center Saturday morning. The General Federation Women’s Club will do a book sale at the Community Center after the pancake breakfast.
The Annual Children’s art show will be held at the Heritage Center by the Heritage Center.
The Annual shopping cart race will be sponsored by the Treasure and Space Coast radio stations. The cart race is an event that raises non-perishable food items for the United Against Poverty agency.
On stage will be entertainment all day including two bands from Indian River State College, and the Landsharks set to close the day from 6 to 8 p.m.
The art show, food vendors and entertainment will continue on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
