SEBASTIAN — The Arizona fugitive who died at a home in the 800 block of Carnation Drive has been identified.
The suspect who died from a self-inflicted wound has been identified as Albert Shade, 45, according to Sebastian Police Spokesman Cmdr. John Blackledge. It is unknown what he was armed with at the time.
A tip from Arizona Police about Shade and his warrants for sexual offenses against minors prompted a visit from Sebastian Police Department, according to police.
Shade was visiting a childhood friend at the time, according to police. His vehicle was parked in back of the house. No charges are being sought against the friend, who had no idea of his criminal activity, authorities said.
He was sitting on the porch as Sebastian detectives approached, according to Cmdr. Blackledge. After seeing the detectives, he started to cut himself then ran back inside the home, barricading himself there.
Police decided to enter the residence to check on his health and to make sure he wasn’t holding hostages, according to police. He was found dead inside.
