INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — One man died in a crash Sunday night in a canal off Oslo Road and 66th Avenue.
Stephen Stradley, 28, of Vero Beach, has been identified as the person who died, according to Florida Highway Patrol. James McCoy, 17, of Vero Beach, was driving the other vehicle involved in the crash.
The crash happened around 8 p.m., according to authorities. One of the two vehicles involved ended up in a canal on the south side of Oslo Road. Stradley was driving a 2012 Kia Rio southbound on 66th Avenue, and McCoy was driving a 2003 Saturn LS200 westbound on Oslo Road and hit the left side of Stradley’s vehicle. Stradley failed to stop at a stop sign.
Two deputies entered the canal and found one man in the water, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
They could not resuscitate Stradley, he was not wearing a seat belt, according to FHP. McCoy was not injured.
The investigation is ongoing.
