Elegant Oak Chase home offers lovely pool and lanai

Steve and Patty Little are winter residents who came from a totally different environment in Buena Vista, Colorado, where they work hard as owners of their own hotel. In 2004, they bought a home on the mainland as a relaxing getaway. Now, they have decided to live on the barrier island to spend more time enjoying the beach and ocean and have listed their home at 6550 36th Place in the Oak Chase community for $369,000.

Their listing agent, Bob Faller of Norris & Company Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Realty, took into consideration all the little extras of the house and then meticulously researched comparable properties to make sure the price was well within its value range; he and the homeowners believe it will sell quickly.

This 4-bedroom, 3-bath, 2,776-square-foot home has a warmth that many homes of this size do not offer. Arched doorways, Palladian windows, recessed lighting, open-ledged walls and a unique floor plan allow each room to have its own cozy space while situating bedroom areas so they have privacy.

Homeowners and guests first enter from the covered porch through French doors to the formal living and dining room, which affords a view of the sparkling pool and screened lanai through wide sliders. The beautiful kitchen, casual dining area and open family room are just around the corner; those rooms, too, have a door that opens onto the pool area.

The kitchen features rich maple cabinetry with stainless appliances, Corian counters and an end section of glass front cabinets. There is a built-in desk that is currently being used as a serving bar for entertaining but would be perfect for a computer station, too. The eat-in kitchen area opposite a breakfast bar built for two enjoys a view of the outdoors through a beveled glass picture window.

The first bedroom wing off the dining room has two bedrooms and a bathroom with a bathtub and linen closet, plus double-wide closets in each room – perfect for a children’s area or nursery.

The second wing off the family room fills the bill as a mother-in-law suite, private office or guest quarters, with a full bath and exit to the patio and backyard. There is a walk-in, glass-enclosed shower making it easy access for seniors or little ones jumping in to shower from the pool.

The house centers on the screened lanai, which is a fine spot for dining al fresco or entertaining. Faller was fortunate to enjoy a recent gathering there and saw how easily the house converts from a family home to a charming party space.

“They had over 40 people here and there was ample room for everyone to sit or roam around visiting with each other or enjoying the incredible food at the buffet they set up outside under the covered lanai,” said Faller. “It really is perfect for entertaining.”

On the right side of the entry, the private en suite master bedroom enjoys a fine view of the pool through double sliding doors. Two slim vertical accent windows on either side of the recessed bed area allow natural light to stream into the already bright suite. Dual walk-ins give both inhabitants plenty of room to organize their attire with two additional closets in the bathroom for linens and storage. A huge door-less shower alcove and additional seating is all beautifully tiled. There are also individual vanities with a convenient built-in cosmetic table and a separate private commode room.

The homeowners have selected a soft, neutral color palette for the walls and flooring that helps create an elegantly luxurious ambience. Guests are immediately put at ease by the comfortable flow and ambient lighting.

Located just down the street from two 18-hole golf courses, Bent Pine Golf & Country Club (private) and Sandridge Golf Club (public), the house was built with a 3.5-vehicle garage, allowing plenty of room for a golf cart or two.

“It’s so big it’s like a bowling alley,” joked Faller. “They have so much space they use the end area as a home gym and there is still room for a workshop if someone wants one.”

According to Faller’s comparable data, the Littles’ home is one of only a handful at this size and price point currently available in a gated subdivision in Vero. Oak Chase is a peaceful enclave with sidewalks ambling by scenic ponds, and the home is situated on a cul de sac for added serenity. It is just minutes away from shopping areas and 10 minutes from the closest beach.
