Drug related arrests could come from fatal Sebastian crashes

SEBASTIAN — Arrests could follow the crash that left one dead and injured two Sunday at Blossom Drive and Dolphin Avenue in Sebastian.

Authorities searched the driver’s home following the crash and discovered drugs and drug paraphernalia. Investigators learned the driver, identified as 18-year-old Alexander Frith, had a birthday party the night before the crash, according to Sebastian Police Cmdr. John Blackledge. The drugs, believed to be marijuana, were tied to that celebration.

Investigators are now seeking those who attended the party.

The Sebastian Police Department received a search warrant for Frith’s home after discovering him in his vehicle nearly nude. Frith was found wearing only a t-shirt.

According to Cmdr. Blackledge, Frith sped from his home on Blossom Drive in the wrong lane and struck a pedestrian. He then barreled down the road between an estimated 60 and 100 mph when he collided with a pickup truck.

Frith was killed in the collision. The truck driver, identified as Fredrick Richard Klein Jr., 51, sustained several injuries and is listed as being in very serious condition. He is in ICU at an area hospital.

The pedestrian, identified as Alan Broberg, 69, sustained a broken arm. He was treated and released from the Sebastian River Medical Center.
