Man arrested for shot fired in Vero Beach

VERO BEACH — A Vero Beach man is accused of firing a gun in the early hours of Wednesday and being drunk when he did so, according to authorities.

The Vero Beach Police Department arrested 23-year-old Mark Fadden, of 46 Plantation Dr., Vero Beach, after a police sergeant investigated the sound of a shot fired and found Fadden standing outside a parked SUV in the middle of Tallahassee Avenue.

A gun was found under the driver’s seat of the vehicle and the casing from a spent round that matched the caliber of the gun was found 6 to 8 feet away from the vehicle, according to the arrest report.

Fadden told police he had been drinking after a softball game earlier in the night, and that he ran over a curb in the SUV.

Officers reported Fadden had a spare tire and tools out to change his tire laying in a driveway near where his SUV was parked.

Police noted Fadden appeared “extremely intoxicated” on the scene.

When Fadden was arrested he told authorities he wanted to speak to his lawyer. He was released from the Indian River County Jail Wednesday afternoon on $2,000 bond.

Fadden faces three misdemeanor charges for carrying a concealed weapon, possession or use of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol or chemicals, and discharging a firearm in public.
