UPDATE: Alert canceled for murder suspect’s children, girlfriend

VERO BEACH — A missing and endangered persons alert has been canceled for the girlfriend and kids related to the Vero Beach shooting suspect.

The suspect has not been located, according to Vero Beach Police Spokeswoman Ofc. Anna Carden.

The children,  Edward Jr., 4, and Lizette, 1, were located with their mother, Maria Marisela Flores Lopez, out of state and detectives are interviewing them. They were found safe, according to Fellsmere Police. 

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued the alert Tuesday morning after Vero Beach Police identified the suspect.

Edward “Geovani” Guardado Gamez, 24, of Fellsmere, has a warrant out for his arrest on charges that include first degree murder with a firearm and attempted first degree murder with a firearm, according to the Vero Beach Police Department.

Gamez is believed to be the one who shot and killed Alejandro Baldonado, 26, and injured Efrain Baldonado, 22, who sustained non-life threatening injuries. The shooting happened Jan. 21 around 3:40 p.m. in the 1500 block of Highlands Avenue, south of 16th Street.

Gamez is described as a Hispanic male, standing 5-feet 7-inches tall and weighing 160 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

He is considered armed and dangerous and anyone who sees him is encouraged to call 911 and not attempt to make contact.
