Tipster leads to cocaine dealer’s arrest

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — An accused cocaine dealer operating in Indian River County was arrested Monday following several months of investigation and a tip from a confidential informant.

Leonard Darling, 36, of 369 7th Court SW, Vero Beach, now faces felony charges for the possession and sale of cocaine.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Multi-Agency Crime Enforcement unit observed the man now identified as Darling exchange one gram of cocaine for cash with a confidential informant in August of last year, according to the arrest report.

On Jan. 25, detectives matched the telephone number the confidential informant used to contact the defendant with Darling. He was positively identified from a booking photograph.

Authorities arrested Darling at his home the same day.

Darling is being held in the Indian River County Jail without bond.
