Alert Target employee helps nab 2 accused of credit card fraud

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — An alert Vero Beach Target employee is credited with the arrests of two men wanted in connection to fraud cases at two other Florida Target stores.

Authorities nabbed two men on Tuesday accused of making purchases with fraudulent credit cards in at least two Target stores elsewhere in Florida.

A Vero Beach Target employee recognized one of the men from an alert out of Stuart and contacted law enforcement, according to the arrest report.

Jemarco Woodson, 37, of Fort Lauderdale, faces two charges for obtaining a credit card by fraudulent means and one charge for fraudulent use of a credit card. He also faces a misdemeanor charge for possession of marijuana under 20 grams.

Christopher Baker, 30, of Brandon, Fla., faces a single charge for fraudulent use of a credit card.

A loss prevention officer at Target said he recognized Woodson when he entered the store and attempted to purchase several Visa gift cards with a counterfeit credit card. The employee asked to see Woodson’s identification and Woodson fled.

Authorities followed Woodson to the intersection of 66th Avenue and 26th Street where he and his getaway driver, Baker, were apprehended.

A “Be On The Lookout” alert from the Stuart Target revealed pictures of both Woodson and Baker inside the store making purchases with fraudulent credit cards, the arrest report shows.

Woodson is being held in the Indian River County Jail in lieu of $30,500 bond, and Baker is being held on $10,000 bond.
