Marion Basney, 95, of Vero Beach, passed away on Dec. 2, 2015.
She is survived by her son Robert Todt; step-children Burton Basney and Marlene Lang; sister Roberta Kuhagen of Dearborn, Mich.; and granddaughter Aimee Todt who she enjoyed taking to church and out to eat.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph N. Basney in 1991.
Basney was born Marion Schram on March 11, 1920 in Detroit, Mich.
She graduated from Grosse Pointe High School in 1937. She attended Michigan State Normal College which was the first teacher training school in the United States to have a four year degree program, where she specialized in physical education. Her teaching certificate was earned at Wayne State University. She taught in the Warren Consolidated School System until retirement and then lived near Caseville, Mich., before moving to Florida in 1985.
Basney enjoyed most sports, particularly golf. She was a volunteer for many years at the Indian River Medical Center and VNA Hospice. She was very involved with her Lutheran church affiliation throughout her life.
