Woman jumps through car window to attack boyfriend

VERO BEACH — A domestic dispute led to a woman’s arrest on Thursday afternoon after she climbed through a car window and threatened her boyfriend with a filet knife at a Vero Beach apartment complex.

Lindsey Hope, 33, of 8211 93rd Avenue, was arrested on a felony charge for aggravated assault and a misdemeanor charge for battery domestic violence.

The victim told police he was in the driver’s seat of his car getting ready to drive away from his apartment when Hope jumped through the driver’s side window and began pulling his hair and scratching him. She was upset that he would not give her the apartment keys, he added.

Hope then grabbed a filet knife out of the center console of the car, held it to the victim’s neck and said “I’m going to kill you.” The blade on the knife was 5  to 6 inches long, according to the arrest report.

During the struggle, the victim suffered several scratches to his chin, ear, nose and chest. Hope also ripped several buttons off of his shirt.

The victim reported he was in fear for his life, and began driving away with Hope still pulling his hair and threatening him with the knife.

The victim said he drove a few feet and Hope released her grip and left the window. The victim drove away and contacted law enforcement.

According to the arrest affidavit, police did not recover the weapon.

Hope is being held in the Indian River County Jail in lieu of $3,000 bond.
