Weather delays traffic shift on I-95 north of Vero

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The recent rainy weather has delayed the anticipated traffic shift on Interstate 95 between Vero Beach and the Indian River/Brevard county line.

The Florida Department of Transportation now expects to shift southbound traffic on Sept. 28. The date is subject to change, depending on the weather.

The shift will occur during nighttime hours north of mile marker 151 and south of mile marker 149.

The Florida Highway Patrol will be on scene to assist with the shift. Traffic will remain in this temporary configuration for approximately four months, weather permitting, according to FDOT.

The planned shift is in addition to the traffic shift that took place in July 2015 where southbound traffic along I-95 was shifted to temporary lanes along northbound I-95 from the Brevard County/Indian River County line to south of County Road 512 in Fellsmere.
