McKee Garden uses Rotary grant for motorized scooters

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – McKee Botanical Garden is pleased to announce that it has received a grant from Vero Beach Rotary Charities Foundation to purchase two motorized scooters.

The purpose of the scooters is to increase accessibility to the Garden, particularly for elderly or infirmed visitors, veterans, and those with limited physical mobility that may have prevented them from visiting in the past.

“It is our belief that the Garden is for everyone, and the addition of these scooters will ensure that even more visitors will be able to enjoy the beauty and serenity of McKee,” stated McKee Botanical Garden Executive Director Christine Hobart. “We are grateful to the Vero Beach Rotary Charities Foundation for recognizing this need and supporting this important acquisition.”

The two scooters were purchased locally from Perkins Medical Supply, who generously gave the Garden a discount. The scooters are available to visitors on a first come, first serve basis and may be reserved ahead of time by contacting Garden Admissions at (772) 794-0601. Manual wheelchairs are also available for visitor use.
