Main Street Vero Beach features doll artist Diana Gannon

VERO BEACH — Main Street Vero Beach is host to Diana Gannon, a doll artist, during the month of September in the guest artist space.

Gannon’s reception will be during First Friday, Sept. 4 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Gannon fell in love with textiles in junior high school Home Economics class. She honed her sewing skills over the next 25 years by making all of her own clothes, doing many of her own fashion designs along the way.

An introduction to quilting in the 1990s brought Gannon into contact with contemporary cloth doll artists. She studied extensively under renowned doll artist Elinor Peace Bailey. She now designs her own dolls with a heavy emphasis on puppetry, designs many functional art objects, and explores her interest in mixed media wall art.

Gannon owns the Carlile House in Sebastian Florida and exhibits and sells much of her art as well as other artists’ work. She has funded her work over the years as a finance professional and hopes to continue her growth in artistic and functional design work.

This show will run through Sept. 29. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information about Main Street Vero Beach contact the office at (772) 643-6782, or info@mainstreetverobeach.org www.mainstreetverobeach.org.
