Chamber of Commerce strengthens ties with Small Business Administration

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the continuation of its partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

Helene Caseltine, economic development director with the Chamber, signed a Strategic Alliance Memorandum with the SBA’s South FL District Office, strengthening the relationship between the two organizations.

“The SBA’s mission to assist new and existing small businesses parallels the business retention/expansion component of our economic development plan” explains Caseltine. “Small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy. Over 90-percent of businesses in Indian River County have less than 20 employees,” she continues.

The SBA works jointly with SCORE, the Small Business Development Center at IRSC, and “weVenture” (formerly the Women’s Business Center) at FIT, offering workshops and free one-on-one counseling to small business owners and those interested in starting a small business. They have a variety of resources available to area businesses, including several small business lending programs.

The Indian River County Chamber of Commerce is the County’s designated agency for economic development. For more information about locating or expanding your business in Indian River County, call Helene Caseltine at (772) 567-3491 or email her: directored@indianriverchamber.com.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) was created in 1953 as an independent agency of the federal government to aid, counsel, assist and protect the interests of small business concerns, to preserve free competitive enterprise and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy of our nation.
