Joseph William Cotroneo, 71, of Vero Beach, passed away on Aug. 1, 2015.
He is survived by his wife Patricia Stephansen Cotroneo; his son Joseph Cotroneo III; his daughter Jill Cotroneo Weise; his sister Patricia Cotroneo Deluca; his daughter-in-law Sara Hadeka Cotroneo; his son-in-law Peter Weise; four beautiful grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Cotroneo Sr., and Helen Clifford Cotroneo ,and his brother Anthony Cotroneo who died in action during the Korean War.
Cotroneo, a.k.a. “The Italian Stallion,” was born on Feb. 9, 1944 in Port Chester, N.Y. He was in business with his father as the co-owner of Modern Shade and Awning for 22 years. In 1982, Cotroneo with his wife and young children, moved to Brandon, Vt. While in Vermont, he enjoyed the outdoors, woodworking, playing golf, and spending time with friends and family. While in Brandon, Cotroneo was the sole proprietor of Vermont Shade & Blind and led several real estate investment projects.
After many years of braving the cold winters, he and Patricia retired to Vero Beach. While in Vero, Cotroneo enjoyed playing golf, spending time with friends and sitting by the pool, entertaining anyone who would listen.
Cotroneo will always be remembered to anyone that has ever met him as a person that made people laugh. He was everyone’s favorite comedian.
To celebrate Joe’s life, fall gatherings will take place in Brandon, Vt. and Vero Beach. Joe, Patricia and his children would especially like to acknowledge the extraordinary care that they all received from the numerous CVICU doctors, nurses and staff at Florida Hospital in Orlando.
