Humane Society waives cat, kitten adoption fees through August

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County (HSVBIRC) has announced it will be waiving the adoption fee on all cats and kittens from June through August.

“This time of year we always see litters of kittens coming through our doors and right now our cat rooms are bursting at the seams,” said Phaedra Kohler, the shelter’s Director of Adoption and Volunteer Services. “We hope that by waiving the adoption fees we’ll be able to find forever homes for even more animals,” she added. According to Kohler, all animals are spayed and neutered, microchipped, dewormed and given age-appropriate vaccines prior to adoption.

The Humane Society is a nonprofit organization located at 6230 77th St., Vero Beach and is open seven days a week. Adoption hours are Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and all other days 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Animals for adoption can also be seen on the shelter’s website www.hsvb.org.
