INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Members at Orchid Island Golf and Beach Club have a history of giving to local charities and causes each year. One special group of Orchid Island Golf and Beach Club members is the Orchid Island Chorus, which since its inception in 2009 has grown to just over 30 members.
The Chorus is comprised of members who love to sing, enjoy camaraderie and are committed to giving back to the community. Each season, this passionate group volunteers their time by performing at nursing homes and assisted living communities. And, for the past three seasons, they have held two concerts for fellow club members and have raised funds to help a very important string program in the community, the Gifford Youth Orchestra.
On April 29, 2015, members from the Orchid Island Chorus were very pleased to present a check for $1,300 to Gifford Youth Orchestra’s Outreach and Development Director, Jonnie Mae Perry.
“The Orchid Island Chorus is privileged to support The Gifford Youth Orchestra through our two concerts a season. What greater joy can there be than to be able to do something we enjoy so much and then help young people do the same,” shared Susan Match, Artistic Director of the Orchid Island Chorus.
