Dear Sirs,
We are from Oxford, England. Last year we spent nearly three weeks travelling around Florida on holiday. During that time we rented a condo for 5 days in beautiful Vero Beach. We had a wonderful time there and each night we ate at a different restaurant. We plan to come back later this year.
However we understand that the local authorities are planning to ban house rentals for periods of less than 30 days.
From a holidaymaker’s point of view this would seem very short sighted as it will drive people like us to stay elsewhere. Last year, apart from the condo rental, we spent around $800 dollars with local businesses, such as restaurants.
We cannot understand why this proposal is being made, unless it is from a hotel lobby. However my wife and I almost never stay in hotels as we prefer to stay in a condo or a house.
I would urge the local council to reconsider this proposal for the good of the local businesses.
Kind regards,
Hugh Smith
