Orchid Island instructor among first Golf Channel Academy teachers

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Jason Sedan, director of instruction at Orchid Island Golf and Beach Club, and the founder and coaching director of Fore Door Golf in New Durham, N.H., has been named one of the inaugural instructors of the newly formed Golf Channel Academy.

Sedan is among the first 46 of the game’s most influential and recognizable teachers coming together to establish a dedicated network of instruction facilities with the active support of Golf Channel, the game’s leading global multimedia and golf entertainment source.

“I’m very excited to be among the first teachers associated with the new, dynamic Golf Channel Academy,” Sedan said. “This is a chance for golf instructors to work together, learning from one another and adopting best practices in both teaching and the business of teaching. I think it’s going to propel the coaches and coaching forward in a big way.”

Golf Channel Academy is the first network of its kind devoted to efficiently growing the business of golf instruction. With 57 charter locations already committed, Golf Channel Academy will be inviting additional coaches to become part of the newly launched network.

Golf Channel Academy coaches will benefit from a wide-spectrum of business consulting services and products addressing marketing, sales, technology and back-office solutions needs, as well as shared best practices across the network. Coaches will also have the opportunity to appear on instructional programming across Golf Channel’s television and digital platforms.

Students at Golf Channel Academy locations will be able to track their progress using advanced software to measure specific goals under the direction of their personal coach.

“Golf Channel Academy aligns the top coaches from across the country to run their business within a robust, collaborative operation,” said Todd Wilson, CEO of Golf Channel Academy. “Our members have a unique opportunity to tap into best practices and proprietary data to assist each member instructor and academy operation to grow their business while operating under one unified brand.”

A PGA Certified Professional, Sedan has been teaching golf for 15 years. Prior to joining Lake Winnepesaukee, he served as the Director of Instruction at Upper Montclair Country Club in Clifton, N.J. for three seasons and managed the day-to-day operations at PGA Village in Port St. Lucie.

Sedan also assisted with the golf schools and taught private lessons at the 35-acre PGA Center for Golf Learning and Performance, also in Port St. Lucie. It was there that he observed and learned from many of the best coaches in the game today, including GOLF Magazine Top 100 Teachers Mike Adams, EA Tischler, Todd Anderson, Rick Martino, and T.J. Tomasi.

A K-Vest Level 3 Certified Biomechanist and TPI Certified Golf Fitness Instructor, Sedan’s expertise is in helping golfers develop their most efficient swing based on their physical limitations. He believes it’s critical to match a student’s swing to their body mechanics.

An accomplished player himself, Sedan qualified for the 2010 and 2012 PGA Professional National Match Play Championship and was runner-up at the 2012 NJPGA Pro-Pro Championship.
