SEBASTIAN — The next regular meeting of the North County Republican Club will be held on Tuesday, April 14, at Captain Hiram’s. The social hour will be held at the downstairs bar at 5:30 p.m., followed by the dinner meeting in the Tiffany Room at 6:30 p.m. The cost of the dinner is $18 per person and reservations are required.
The program is going to be different with a lot of member participation. The Club’s scholarship applicants have been narrowed down to three finalists. They have already been evaluated for academic achievement and mechanical properties of their essays. At the meeting, the three finalists will orally present their essays on support of the Second Amendment. The members will rank them on how well they make their case in their essays.
Each applicant will walk out with a scholarship that night of $1000, $500 or $250, depending on their total scores. In addition, the Club will present a $500 leadership award to a young Republican who has made a significant contribution to the advance of the Republican agenda through leadership and volunteer participation.
