Suspect in custody from Saturday night stabbing in Gifford

GIFFORD —The Indian River Sheriff’s Office has a suspect in custody from a stabbing that occurred Saturday night at Smith’s Grocery Store in Gifford.

Authorities have not released the identity of the suspect or the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A 36-year-old black male, who authorities have not identified, was flown to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center after he was stabbed in the 3200 block of 45th Street, according to Sgt. Eric Flowers, spokesman for the Indian River Sheriff’s Office. 

The Sheriff’s Office was still investigating this incident as of last night.
