VERO BEACH — A Groundhog Day themed fundraiser to benefit the Indian River County Healthy Start Collation and to help Waldo’s manager Lee Olsen raise funds in his name as he competes for Dancing with Vero’s Stars, is scheduled for Jan. 30 through Feb. 1.
Olsen has been known to lend Waldo’s restaurant out for all types of fundraisers and he is a pro at it. “This is about the development of our children right here in Indian River County…what could be more important than that?” Olsen said.
The fundraiser will include a line-up of bands, Wildo the dancing Groundhog, a celebrity bar tended by Dano of the famed Love Doctors, and more. Tickets will be drawn to win dining certificates, airboat excursions, kayak rentals, getaways, baskets of liquor and other prizes.
“It isn’t just about how great you dance or that would be a slam dunk,” Olsen said of the dance competition. “But your score also depends on how much money you can raise…and that’s where I need everyone’s help!”
Rain or shine, the event will go on. The schedule is as follows:
Jan. 30: The Matt and Bruce Show, 8 to 11 p.m.
Jan. 31: The Accomplice Band, 1 to 4 p.m. with Dano from Real Radio Celebrity bartending.
Jan. 31: Old Barber Bridge, 4 to 7 p.m.
Jan. 31: 21 Hearts 1 Beat from the Miami Country Day School, 7 to 10 p.m.
Feb. 1: Encore show with 21 Hearts 1 Beat
Prizes will be on display all weekend and the drawing will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1.
