Harold Hayhurst, 89, of Vero Beach, passed away on Jan. 15, 2015.
He is survived by his wife Greta Hayhurst, of Vero Beach; sons William Hayhurst, and Harold Hayhurst, both of Vero Beach; and daughter Valarie Mangeot, of Douglas, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Hayhurst and Thomas Hayhurst, son Kenneth Hayhurst, and one grandchild.
Hayhurst was born in Jacksonville, Ill., and had been a resident of Vero Beach for 27 years coming from Lake Tranquility, N.J.
He served in the US Navy Seabees during World War II.
Prior to retirement, Hayhurst worked for Caterpillar in Bronx, N.Y., for 37 years. He was also a school bus driver for Indian River County for eight years. He was a member of the Seabees X -10 Bill and enjoyed remote control airplanes. Hayhurst attended Cornerstone Christian Church in Vero Beach.
A visitation will be held 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2015, with a service at 3 p.m. at Aycock Funeral Home in Fort Pierce. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce.
