Maxine Swartz, 80, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her loved ones on Dec. 12, 2014.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Theodore Swartz; her son Dean (Lisa) Swartz of Travelers Rest, S.C.; her daughter Jody (Ken) Houston of Vero Beach; her three grandchildren, Will Swartz (Morgan), Virginia Laggui (Allan), and Ann Marie Swartz; her two great-granddaughters, Ella and Scarlett Ann Laggui; and her brothers Jack and Bud Hetrick.
She was preceded in death by her son Steven Swartz, her three sisters Betty Mayo, Gladys Woods, and Rea Hoover.
Swartz was born on Jan. 5, 1934, in Fairview, Penn. She and her husband, Ted, moved from Jamestown, N.Y., to Vero Beach approximately 55 years ago.
She was a faithful parishioner of St. Helen’s Catholic Church. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and compassionate friend. She cherished time with her family and fun times with her friends at Bingo.
We will miss her deeply, but are extremely grateful for having her in our lives for all of these years.
The family has requested donations to the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach in lieu of flowers.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of All County Funeral Home & Crematory in Stuart, Florida.
A celebration of life will be held privately, and her ashes will be interred on the plot next to her son.
