INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — When Mary Beth Vallar’s term as chairperson for Sun Up Arc expired, the Board eagerly voted in Dick Pippert.
Pippert served on the board of both Sun Up ARC and Sun Up Center. “I unashamedly admit that I’m thrilled and full of pride at being a member of the Board and new chairperson of The Arc. We have a terrific group of 14 board members and a dedicated group of advocates, advisory board and volunteers. This is an active board … questioning, challenging and vocal … with the single purpose of providing 180 individuals with developmental disabilities on two campuses, served by 19 vehicles and 75 employees, some living in one of the four group homes, all paid for with a $2.5 million annual budget” said Pippert.
He went on to say, “These are exciting times at The Arc, as we are getting ready to start construction on the first phase of our Residential Community, which will provide safe and secure housing for 54 special needs adults in Indian River County.”
