Bar Association makes holiday toy, book donation

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River County Bar Association held its annual Holiday Party on Dec. 4, at the Vero Beach Hotel and Spa’s Cobalt Room. Several hundred lawyers attended the evening’s festivities which also supported the Indian River County Lawyers Auxiliary Toy & Book Drive.

The Toy Drive was to help relieve stress for more than 100 children that need to appear in Dependency Court each month in our county. The Auxiliary requires 1200 toys to run the program for a year.

The Book Drive benefits “Pelican Island READS,” a program designed to put books in the hands and homes of struggling 3rd grade readers. Each registered guest was asked to bring toys and books for donation to help the needy children of Indian River County.

The Indian River County Bar Association offers continuing legal education programs, a speakers’ bureau, pro bono programs to assure availability of legal services to the indigent, law related educational programs for the public, and participates in community service and ongoing events in the community.
