Exchange Club awards grant to CASTLE

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Exchange Club of Indian River Foundation awarded a $3,000 grant to CASTLE to support the agency’s Family Support Volunteer Program. In this program, trained volunteers supervised by trained parent educators, help families create goals for improving parenting skills, family communication, decision making, and overall household functioning. Development director Chris Robertson accepted the check on behalf of the organization.

CASTLE provides child abuse and neglect prevention services to families, offering programs such as Families First, Positive Parenting, High Hopes for Kids, Safe Families, Strengthening Families, and Valued Visits. The agency provides parenting skills training to more than 5,000 individuals each year; it has been successfully helping Treasure Coast families for 33 years.

Each year, the Exchange Club of Indian River’s Foundation awards grants for special local projects which further its mission of prevention of child abuse. Winners of the grants are determined by the relevance of the projects’ goals to this mission and related factors. Jenny Frederick chairs the grants committee.

Exchange Club of Indian River has provided the community with programs in youth activities, service, and Americanism since 1973. It is affiliated with America’s service club, the National Exchange Club. Members meet for lunch at Culinary Capers each Wednesday at 12 p.m. Meetings feature programs on a wide range of business, government and civic, charity, personal, and professional topics. The foundation’s fishing tournament, the Blue Water Open Dolphin Mania Charity Fishing Tournament held each May, supports these projects. The club was also a partner in the 2014 Vero Beach Air Show.
