1 arrested in DUI crash at Cadillac dealership

VERO BEACH — A short police chase ended at the Linus Cadillac dealership in the 1400th block of US 1 when a man accused of driving under the influence crashed into three vehicles on the dealership lot and was arrested on the spot.

Robert Cannet, 56, of Vero Beach, ran at least two red lights while authorities pursued him northbound on US 1, according to the arrest report.

He then crossed into oncoming traffic, nearly colliding head on with a vehicle traveling southbound before crashing into three vehicles parked at the dealership. The crash brought the Nissan he was driving to a halt, according to the arrest report.

Cannet ignored officers’ commands to get on the ground, the report states.

Cannet was found to have six previous DUI’s and a revoked driver’s license.

He is being held in the Indian River County Jail without bond and faces misdemeanor charges of flee and elude a police officer, leave scene of an accident with property damage, two counts drive with license revoked, resist arrest without violence, criminal mischief, and driving under the influence.
