Angelo Sanchez, 84, formerly of Vero Beach, passed away on Nov. 13, 2014.
Sanchez was dearly loved and was deeply devoted to his wife of 64 years, Bonnie Sanchez; his children Teresa D’Albora (Paul) and Mark Sanchez (Carolyn); grandchildren Angela D’Albora, Jacob D’Albora (Megan), Elizabeth Sanchez, and Sara Sanchez; and his great-grandson, James D’Albora.
He was born on March 31, 1930, to Jose and Dollie Sanchez of Tampa, Fla.
He was dedicated to the Lord and belonged to St. Augustine Episcopal Church in Vero Beach, where he served as a deacon and member of the church council.
Sanchez graduated from the Summerlin Institute in Bartow, Fla. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. In 1953, following his military service, the family moved to Vero Beach, where he was employed by the Indian River Citrus Bank.
During his career, Sanchez served as president of the Westside Bank, the Indian River Citrus Bank, First Bankers in Indian River County, and Seacoast Bankers in Indian River County.
He was greatly committed to serving the local community. Over the years, he acted as president or director of the Rotary Club of Vero Beach West, Vero Beach Jaycees, Indian River Chamber of Commerce, One Hundred Club, Community Concert Association, Alliance for the Arts, Four County Mental Health Clinic, Vero Beach Concert Association, Indian River Memorial Hospital Foundation, United Way of Indian River County, the Fourth District Court of Appeals Nominating Commission, and Chairman of the Board of Indian River Community College.
More than anything, Sanchez loved and adored his family. He was an inspiration to each of them serving as a model of compassion, generosity, and kindness. He loved deeply and was deeply loved by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
Services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 20, at Christ Lutheran Church, 4519 Providence Road, Charlotte, N.C. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to (alz.org). T.H.
