WWII Heritage Tour to benefit Heritage Center and Indian River Citrus Museum, Nov. 10

VERO BEACH — Join Navy veteran, Rebecca Rickey, and local historians, Pam Cooper and Janie Gould, on Vero’s Inaugural Veteran’s Day Tour where you will learn the role that Vero Beach played during World War II.

See buildings and sites that were used for military purposes during that time — Heritage Center, Orange Apartments, Vero Beach Airport, Tracking Station, Victory Boulevard and the Ocean Grill (then called Club Mac).

There will also be a stop at Memorial Island. The tour will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Heritage Center.

Following an introduction, you will board a comfortable bus and begin your tour around Vero Beach stopping at CJ Cannons for lunch and a tour of the Airport Terminal and other pertinent buildings. The bus should return to the Heritage Center at approximately 4 p.m. Tickets cost $55 and includes everything except lunch where separate checks will be given.
