Downtown Friday celebrates 20th Anniversary Oct. 31

VERO BEACH — Main Street Vero Beach invites the public to come eat, drink, and be scary as Downtown Friday and Halloween come together to recognize and celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the popular Vero Beach street party.

The event will take place Friday evening, Oct. 31, from 5:30-8:30 p.m., on 14th Avenue in the heart of downtown Vero Beach.

Main Street Vero Beach Board Members, and Emcee/Radio Personality Hamp Elliott will be honoring the three founders of Downtown Friday and include Beverly Paris, Be Gardner and Donna Roberts Mitchell and mentions will be made of those who participated on the committee throughout the years as well as those who chaired the events.

The evening will kick off with a family bicycle ride at 5 p.m. sponsored by Vero Cycling.

As they did in 1994, The Land Sharks, will be returning to the main stage as they were the original entertainment at the first Downtown Friday event 20 years ago.

For those looking for a fun and safe environment for little trick-or-treaters, each vendor will be handing out candy from their booths. Throughout the evening, costume contests will be held for both kids and adults judged by State Representative Debbie Mayfield and Vero Beach Mayor Dick Winger.

There will be plenty of food and craft booths, and opportunities for fun and mingling.
