VERO BEACH — Get in the “Spirit” a day early and take the Halloween Eve tour of Waldo Sexton’s buildings on Thursday, Oct. 30.
Sit back on a cool and comfortable big bus and listen to local historians, Pam Cooper and Janie Gould, while they take passengers on a tour of the unique buildings and sites inspired by Waldo Sexton.
These buildings and sites still hold an imprint of Waldo. Whet your appetite on the first stop with a cup of tea and freshly made spring roll at the Szechuan Palace (originally known as the Turf Club in Waldo’s Day); continuing on the bus for a drive-by tour of Waldo’s Secret Garden, Patio Restaurant and Waldo’s Mountain. The tour will also include a stop at the Driftwood Inn Resort (originally Waldo’s beach house) and on to the Ocean Grill where you have the option of staying with the group and enjoying good food, libations while also taking in the spectacular Halloween decorations.
Tour will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Heritage Center, 2140 14th Avenue in downtown Vero, where the group will board the bus promptly at 5 p.m. Cost is $55 per person and includes everything except dinner at the Ocean Grill. The group will sit in the Bird Cage section of the Grill and will be given separate tickets.
If you do not wish to stay for dinner, the bus will return you to your automobile at the Heritage Center. For more information or to make reservations, contact Rebecca Rickey at (772) 770-2263. Feel free to wear something fun or funny for the Spirit of Halloween. Tour proceeds are to benefit the Heritage Center and the Indian River Citrus Museum.
