Annual “Green” Sale at Environmental Learning Center

WABASSO — It’s an early holiday season at the Environmental Learning Center. September means the annual sale in ELC’s gift shop. And “green” is the color.

With 40 percent off most merchandise, buyers save “green” bucks on their purchases. Proceeds from the gift shop fund ELC’s education programs on the Indian River Lagoon meaning “green” financial support.

There are items for everyone in the family, including birdhouses, hats, jewelry, kid’s games, lamps, hostess gifts, kitchen items, and much more. There are items that are appropriate for upcoming birthdays, or even early Christmas shoppers.

Those who come early in September get the most varied selection of items. The sale runs the entire month of September.

The Nature Nook Gift Shop is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Many visitors combine a trip to the gift shop with a tour of the many interesting sights and exhibits at the ELC.

The non-profit Environmental Learning Center is located north of Vero Beach off County Road 510 at the western end of the Wabasso Bridge. Its campus includes exhibit areas, native plant gardens, picnic facilities, as well as visitor center.

ELC membership benefits, and a list of its many field excursions including nature walks, canoe excursions, and boating adventures can be found at www.DiscoverELC.org.

Admission is $5 per person, children 12 and under free. ELC members receive free admission year-round. Visitors to the gift shop during September pay no admission and the first Saturday of every month is free to all.
