SEBASTIAN — Betty Skel’s 10-foot pet boa, Squeezer, has been missing since Aug. 18, from her home on Roseland Road, according to Skel.
Skel has had the red tail Columbian boa for 17 years, since it was a hatchling. She lives near Roseland Road and Sebastian Boulevard.
“He’s my baby,” said Skel.
Sebastian Police are investigating the snake’s disappearance as a burglary. Skel kept the snake in an enclosure on her porch.
“He’s never been out of the house,” said Skel.
Thursday morning, Skel got a tip of a large snake, and was out searching the 600 block of Sebastian Boulevard.
“I cry every day over this stupid thing,” said Skel.
Flyers have been put in local pet stores that carry snake food.
Skel is offering a reward if her snake is found. For any tips call her at 772-341-9297.
“He can’t say hid forever,” said Skel.
Ilka Daniel, of the Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County, urged neighbors to not leave pets outside and tell small children if they ever see a snake take three steps back and tell and adult.
