Alleged suicide bomber from Sebastian tried to recruit others

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — According to recent national media reports, the alleged Syrian suicide bomber who attended Sebastian River High School tried to recruit his friends before blowing himself up outside a building known as a place where Syrian troops gathered back in May.

Media reports say 22-year-old Moner Mohammad Abusalha returned to Syria in May after having spent several months in Indian River County and in Ft. Pierce. The reports cite U.S. officials who said Abusalha tried recruiting his friends for the Syrian revolution, fighting for the rebels.

Those he tried to recruit, reports state, refused to participate and one alerted the FBI, according to NBC News.
