Bikes, butterflies, and costume ball to benefit Sebastian organizations

SEBASTIAN — Sebastian City Council unanimously approved a 2-day event to benefit VNA Hospice and Testifire Ministries sponsored by Earl’s Hideaway Lounge.

The event will take place Oct. 25-26 and will kick off at 8 p.m. that Saturday with a butterfly themed biker costume ball at Earl’s Hideaway and Sebastian Tiki.

Butterflies, a traditional symbol for hospice care, will be an overarching theme going into Sunday morning. After a pancake breakfast at Sebastian Tiki. A butterfly release and blessing of the bikes will take place at Riverview Park. Immediately following, the bikes will parade from the park to Earl’s Hideaway for a final concert.

“It might seem like a strange partnership,” said Michael Gardner, vice president of marketing and communications for the Sebastian VNA about the coordination between Earl’s Hideaway Lounge, VNA Hospice, and Testifire Ministries. But Earl’s, he said, was exactly the kind of local landmark the VNA needs to bring attention to the two organizations.

“There are a lot of myths about hospice care out there; there are a lot of misconceptions,” Gardner said.

Garnder said he hopes this event will be a gateway for answering questions and settling those misconceptions in the community.
