Russell Romeyn, 89, of Vero Beach, passed away on May 31, 2014.
He was born in Detroit, Mich., on April 30, 1925. He enlisted in the Navy the year he turned 18, serving in North Africa for four years as a Pharmacist Mate First Class. He was recalled during the Korean War, serving until August, 1952.
He married Jane Donnan of Schenectady, N.Y., in 1947, and had three children; Peter, Dirk, and Roberta. He has five grandchildren, Jack Romeyn, Leslie Romeyn, Krister (Lexi), Dan (Sherouk), and Greg.
Romeyn was always an entrepreneur, establishing several retail tire stores in Connecticut, including R&N Tire Center near Hartford, Conn., which is still in business today under the management of his second son, Dirk, and his wife, Carol.
He greatly enjoyed golf, playing in Connecticut, and after moving to Florida. He was a great lover of music and dancing.
