County woman makes threat in Social Security Office

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — An Indian River County woman was arrested for threatening to shoot people inside the Social Security Administration Office with a shotgun, according to the Vero Beach Police Department.

Mary Klopotowski, 58, was arrested Friday around 1 p.m. at the administration office, according to the report.

“I didn’t mean to say it and I know I shouldn’t have,” said Klopotowski when approached by authorities. “I just was sitting there all day and I came here from the doctors. I’m very upset because they’re taking too long and asking me all these different questions.”

Before giving officers consent to search her vehicle Klopotowski said, “No, I don’t have any weapons or anything on me. I just said that if I had a gun I would do something.”

According to police, one witness said she heard Klopotowski yelling, “If I had a shotgun!”

Another witness said she did not directly threaten any of the employees or customers.

Klopotowski faces a charge of disorderly conduct.
