INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River Community Foundation, in partnership with an anonymous donor, is accepting applications for a new field of interest fund to address community needs in the areas of education and the environment, as well as vulnerable individuals, families and animals.
Grants awarded from the new Community Enrichment Fund will range from $5,000 to $50,000 with a total of $200,000 available from the fund this year, according to Kerry Bartlett, Executive Director.
“The donors who established the fund are particularly interested in nonprofit organizations that are improving the quality of life in Indian River County for a broad population of residents and do so through a high degree of volunteer support,” Bartlett said.
Grants are available for new program development or program expansion, including mission-related capital grants that are not part of a specific capital campaign. Grant applications will be reviewed by a volunteer grants committee that will make recommendations for review by the fund holder before going to the IRCF Board of Directors for final approval.
“A field of interest fund is an excellent way for philanthropists to connect their personal values to high-impact opportunities,” Bartlett said. “The donors who established the Community Enrichment Fund developed goals that have been important to their family over the years and are now using the Community Foundation as a resource to improve the effectiveness of their giving.”
The Indian River Community Foundation was founded in 2005 to promote donor-driven philanthropy and has since grown to manage over $20 million in charitable assets, the majority of which are held in donor-advised funds.
