ORCHID — The Orchid Town Council voted unanimously to adopt a stronger fertilizer ordinance today.
The new ordinance forbids fertilizer application from June to September and beefs up requirements on soil testing.
“The ordinance Council adopted today was a stronger one. We are trying to mirror the [ordinance] the county has so there will not be any confusion,” Orchid Town Clerk, Terri Wallace, told Vero News.
The town’s attorney is reviewing the ordinance to ensure it matches that of Indian River County. Council will give the ordinance a second reading before the final approval, scheduled to occur Feb. 5.
