VERO BEACH — One thing for certain is that Vero Beach parents are always looking for interesting and affordable programs for their children during the summer months. To that end, Lighthouse Art and Framing will be offering a unique package of 2 day workshops for kids 6 to 14.
The workshops are themed with both educational input and hands on classroom activity. The two day packages are $60 each and run from 1-5 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays starting June 19.
“The idea of short workshops came from the parents of our regular 6 week class students. They all wanted more art instruction but found scheduling difficult with so many conflicting activities and vacation times.
We devised the 2 days so that kids could take the workshops that fit their schedule. They can take all the courses or just one or two and still get the benefit,” said Ms. Hoots, a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Each 2 day session is dedicated to a different art discipline like painting or printmaking.
The early summer schedule is as follows:
June 19 and 20: Impressionistic Florals (pastel colors)
June 26 and 27: Cubist Creations (multi-media)
July 10 and 11: Block Heads (block printing)
July 17 and 18: Fantastic Fruit (pen and ink still life)
August calendar has not been set as of this date.
These workshops for children are unique in their approach and also in their flexibility, which parents with busy schedules will appreciate.
