Seasonal residents donated 4,400 pounds of food before leaving

TREASURE COAST — This year’s Treasure Coast Food Bank Farewell Food Drive brought in more than 4,400 pounds of food, almost double the amount over last year.

The food was donated mostly by residents leaving for the summer.

Sponsored by WellMed, the food was collected by 30 condominium associations and businesses across the Treasure Coast.

Sandhill Cove in Palm City was the top donor with almost 1,100 pounds.

“We’re very grateful to our Farewell Food Drive committee and to our sponsor, WellMed, for spearheading this effort and raising awareness of the need for food all year long,” said Judy Cruz, Treasure Coast Food Bank CEO.
