INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a contract for new Indian River County Attorney Dylan Reingold, who is replacing out-going County Attorney Alan Polackwich.
Reingold is expected to take the post on July 1.
Reingold’s contract is modeled after that of Polackwich’s, with changes to the annual salary and number of vacation days. Reingold would receive an annual salary of $140,000 – $10,000 less than that of Polackwich. He would also receive the same number of vacation days Polackwich received when he was hired three years ago.
“I felt it was reasonable,” Polackwich said of Reingold’s proposed salary.
Polackwich explained that Martin County, which has a similar population to Indian River County, recently hired a new county attorney at $140,000 and allows the new attorney to continue working for a pre-existing client.
Reingold, who is currently the head of the Land Use and Environmental Law Department in the Office of General Council in Jacksonville, does not have that ability or option, according to Polackwich.
Reingold’s contract did not prompt debate among Commissioners and was unanimously supported.
